Servicing and making Li-ion battery packs.

Guest post by Dalibor

1. Introduction

More and more people are recognizing an electric bicycle as a valid / proper means of transport. The most important part of an electric bicycle is the battery. The needs and the possibilities differ, so in the market there is a wide range of various battery types. Personally, I like and recommend Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, because of their properties and specification.

2. Upgrading a Li-ion battery

I got a first “patient” packed in a Samsung box. I don’t like commenting other people’s work, but let’s just say it could have been done a bit more meticulously. At a client’s request, the capacity was increased for 14 cells – as much as the housing space allowed. Capacity and cycle measurement will be a standard for all the batteries that come to my workshop from now on. We’ll be keeping the records of service history, because maintenance of these batteries is very important.

BikeGremlin note: Elektrobicikli service has stopped working, for justified reasons. The point of publishing this is to preserve the record of the previously done work and to help potential continuation of the service in the future.
